Kintsugi Pins or Jewelry

Feeling a bit broken? Wear our new Kintsugi pin, earrings, or necklace as a reminder that there is value to be found in our history and our imperfections.

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer combined with precious metals. The intention of this method is to highlight the beauty of brokenness and repair, identifying both as important aspects of the history of the object rather than flaws to hide or disguise. The significance of kintsugi has roots in wabi-sabi, the Japanese philosophy of radical acceptance of the inherent nature of imperfection in life. With kintsugi, by emphasizing the cracks in the repair process, there is a valuing of the wear of an object and a recognition that being broken is simply a part of its story, rather than its end.

All items are gold-plated or silvertone and made with hard enamel.

Kintsugi Therapist Collective (KTC) is a virtual community for therapists and care workers dedicated to building embodied and liberatory practices of care. KTC was founded by Anastasia (Onyx) Fujii, LCSW and Asher Pandjiris, LICSW/MA, two non-binary, queer, chronically ill and disabled therapists.

Kintsugi as metaphor has been a touchstone in KTC’s vision to center the value and wholeness of care workers impacted by chronic illness, disability, mental illness, trauma, and oppression. Supporting KTC offers support and solidarity to BIPOC, queer and trans, chronically ill and disabled practitioners committed to healing justice.

The kintsugi pin, necklace, and earrings were designed by Onyx, based on the KTC logo.
